Hotels

Hotels can be difficult and expensive, but there are more here now and some have OK deals if you get them early and as a group. Most of the major chains are in the area and can be reserved through 800 #'s. You can also find them along with others with online services for some deals. Most hotels start taking reservations 6 months in advance. Listed below is a breakdown of the area hotels (area, price range and distance to the fields). You can get phone numbers for the Savannah area hotels at www.realpages.com.

1. Downtown/Historic District: Most expensive, usually $125 and up per night. 10 mins to fields, on parade routes. These usually fill up first and some require 2 -3 night stays.

2. Midtown/Southside: Can be expensive to high-priced, usually $125 per night or less.15 - 20 mins to field and parade (downtown area). Buses go to downtown on parade day. These fill up fairly fast too. (We use Days Inn & Savannah Suites in this area).

3. Tybee Island/Beach: Expensive to high-priced. Condo's available and on-the-beach rentals, if you are early enough. Also has hotels, motels available. 20 - 30 mins to fields, downtown area and the parade.

4. I-95 @ Hwy. 204 & Hwy 21: Lots of hotels at both exits. 204 is a little south on I-95, and 21 is a little north on I-95. Both are about 30 mins from the fields, or downtown area. These hotels are the closest to the airport and the prices may be more reasonable, especially if they aren't full.

5. Richmond Hill (south of Savannah) & Hardeeville, SC (north of Savannah): Both right off of I-95 and are about 45 mins to 1 hour away. Some major hotel chains are available here, and there may be a slight increase in price over the other I-95 exits.

Transportation

1. Car & van rentals are available at the airport, and on the southside. Again, it's very busy, so the earlier you can make arrangements, the better. Phone numbers can be found at www.realpages.com if not a major car rental company.

2. Tour buses are also available to rent for groups. Phone numbers can be found at www.realpages.com.

Note: Some people fly into Jacksonville, FL and rent a car to drive up to Savannah. (Approx. 2 hours away)
